Owners and hosts, Stephen, Angela and Adrian, have created a luxurious hotel here in the northern Lake District, and their emphasis on personal service and wonderful attention to detail makes this house a home from home that lures their guests back time after time.
Set in 18 acres of gardens and nursery woodland, Overwater Hall is a fine example of an elegant and authentic Country House Hotel.
One of the principal mansions in the area, and having been occupied by the Cumbrian family, the Gillbanks, as far back as 1814, the Grade II listed Hall has been designated as a building of architectural and historic interest.
Walk for hours without seeing another soul, and if you find yourself stuck in traffic, you can be sure there is a tractor up ahead!
Overwater is not just about the hotel. Boasting 18 acres of solitude, our guests can enjoy formal gardens where gravel pathways and outdoor seating encourage you to linger longer; and the impressive boardwalk that snakes off through nursery woodland is hugely popular with our canine friends! Let us serve you a drink or a light snack outside (weather-permitting!), while you unwind to the sound of silence.
Overwater hasn’t always been a hotel. The building itself is shrouded in history. Take a look at our History page to find out more.
