We're Re-Opening

We are delighted to announce that we are finally able to open our gardens to you for Light Lunches and Afternoon Teas

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 16th April, noon until 5pm

Should you require more of us, we will look at opening into the early evening, too – we’ll be led by you!

Be assured, we have patio heaters, a huge fire pit, big brollies and piles of blankets at the ready, so don’t let the weather deter you!

And remember, we are allowed to serve drinks only this time, so feel free to drop in for a beer after your walk.

We already have lots of bookings, so get in touch now and give yourself something to look forward to.

The hotel will re-open fully on Monday 17th May

Our diary is already extremely busy until the end of June so again, please book early, especially if you have a special occasion to celebrate.

We can’t wait to see you again!

Welcome to

Overwater Hall

This hidden treasure is set in 18 acres of formal gardens and woodland with the dramatic backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells. The hotel offers the perfect base for a truly relaxing holiday in the peaceful surroundings of the undiscovered northern Lake District.

Your hosts, Stephen Bore, and Angela and Adrian Hyde, bought this magnificent Grade 2 listed Georgian country house in 1992, and have spent the past 25 years lovingly refurbishing it, paying great attention to detail, and successfully preserving the historic ambience of the house with a clever mix of traditional and contemporary style. The end result is a tasteful, colourful and refined luxury hotel.

Dine at Overwater Hall

The highlight of your stay.

Relax & Unwind

Relax and enjoy your stay in our elegant 18th century country house hotel, tucked away in the unspoilt beauty of the northern Lake District.

Leave all distractions behind and unwind in our lounge, with fabulous views over our gardens. With an open log fire in the Winter, this is the perfect way to warm up after a walk in the fells.

Don’t just take our word for it…

Here’s what our guests think of Overwater

Great location – quiet, off the beaten track, with great views. Delightful food (evening meal and excellent breakfast). Very welcoming, friendly, helpful hosts. Can’t fault the service. Last minute booking for us, and it worked out well.
