This hidden treasure is set in 18 acres of formal gardens and woodland, and with the dramatic backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells the hotel offers the perfect base for a truly relaxing holiday, in surroundings more peaceful than most.

Your hosts, Stephen Bore, and Angela and Adrian Hyde, bought this magnificent Grade 2 listed Georgian mansion in 1992, and have spent  the past 20 years lovingly refurbishing it, paying great attention to detail,  and successfully preserving the historic ambience of the house with a clever mix of traditional and contemporary style. The end result is tasteful, colourful and refined.

Always on hand to meet and greet; to recommend undiscovered local walks; in fact, to assist in any way, Stephen and Angela display a genuine care for  their guests, and for their comfort and enjoyment. Adrian, the chef, cooks with a passion. Together, the three have created a delightful hotel that  discerning guests will want to return to…time and time again.
