Breakfast at Overwater is a truly Cumbrian affair: free-range eggs are laid in Aspatria; bacon comes from pigs reared in Wigton; award-winning sausages and delicious black pudding from Kendal, and the kippers are smoked in Frizington. Naturally, the preserves on the table are all homemade. But if all of this sounds like too much food too early in the day, why not try the muesli, mixed in-house, not poured from a packet, or the deliciously thick and creamy porridge made with whole milk? As Paddy Burt’s husband remarked, “This is a place that really understands breakfast”
