The Team

Your hosts, Adrian, Angela and Stephen met at the University of Surrey in the 1980's where they studied Hotel & Catering Administration.  On graduating, Adrian worked as a General Manager for the outside catering firm, Kennedy Brookes; Angela as Front of House Manager, firstly for Crest Hotels, then at the London Tara Hotel; and Stephen as Food & Beverage Manager with Crest Hotels, before working for Rank Hovis McDougall.  Adrian and Angela married in 1987 and have two children, Casey, 21 and Matthew, 19.

It was in November 1992 that the three bought their dream hotel where Adrian is the (self-taught) Head Chef, Angela takes care of Housekeeping and Stephen oversees the Restaurant and Bar.

Adrian's brigade have been with him for a combined total of close to 30 years!  Dawn, his Second Chef, joined Overwater Hall in 1993, and, with a short break to have a baby, has worked there ever since.  She is the talented and artistic Pastry Chef, and covers for Adrian on his days off.  The two have now been cooking together for so long that consistency in the Restaurant is assured.

Karen and Craig, and commis chef Paul, make up the rest of the Kitchen team: all, like Dawn, born and bred in Cumbria.

Luke joined the Restaurant at Overwater Hall aged 16 years.  Now 25, he is the hotel's very able and personable Assistant Manager.  On a recent visit, Paddy Burt found Luke 'immaculate'.

Daniela and Julian, both from Romania, both with fluent english, make up the rest of the Restaurant team.

In the Housekeeping department, the story is very similar, with two ladies having worked at Overwater since before the current owners arrived!

There must be something very special about this place that keeps its staff for so long.

We currently have a vacancy in the kitchen for an experienced Chef de Partie, and we are also looking for part-time help in the housekeeping and restaurant departments.
